Established in 1995, the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC)

is a pivotal non-governmental organization dedicated to fostering robust bilateral economic relations between the United States and Ukraine.

The USUBC's core mission

The U.S.-Ukraine Business Council was established in October 1995 to advance U.S. companies’ trade and investment interests in Ukraine’s significant emerging market, advocate for measures to improve conditions for bilateral trade and investment, and generally promote strong, friendly bilateral ties.

In support of its mission, the Council works closely with the full range of other organizations interested in supporting a growing commercial relationship between the United States and Ukraine.

Assure that the U.S. business viewpoint is known and given highest consideration in the formulation of U.S. Government policies towards Ukraine;

Assure that the U.S. business perspective, including the U.S. business community's desire to contribute constructively to Ukraine's vigorous market development, is understood within the Ukrainian public and private sectors;

Make U.S. business views known to the Government and private sector of Ukraine with respect to policies and legal, regulatory and other matters which bear significantly upon the willingness or ability of U.S. companies to trade with or invest in Ukraine;

Facilitate direct contacts between its members and senior Ukrainian Government and business leaders which foster the elimination of impediments to trade or investment or which otherwise can materially assist the realization of investment or trade opportunities.

LEGAL STATUS
The U.S.-Ukraine Business Council is incorporated in the District of Columbia as a 501(c)6 non-profit trade association.

GOVERNANCE
Council policies are established by the Board of Directors, on which each Regular Member has a seat. The Board of Directors meets at least annually.
Between meetings of the Board of Directors, its powers are exercised by its elected Executive Committee. Officers of the corporation are the President and Secretary/Treasurer. The President serves as the Council’s Chief Executive Officer.

1995

USUBC established

USUBC was established by 20 US companies like ADM, Cargill, Bunge, Westinghouse, FMS, Boeing, and others to help US businesses develop their presence in Ukraine.

The USUBC is established by businesses, managed by the business community, and works for businesses.

1996

First office in Kyiv

USUBC opened an office in Kyiv, Ukraine.

1998

First 50 members

USUBC expanded to 50 members.

2000

Entry point for US companies

USUBC became an entry point for US companies interested in doing business in Ukraine and for Ukrainian companies interested in doing business in the USA.

2002

USUBC expanded

USUBC expanded to include over 70 companies. USUBC actively attracted international investments to Ukraine in areas such as agriculture, IT, energy, and others.

2004

CEO and President

Morgan Williams was elected as CEO and President of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council

2006

Members expansion

USUBC expanded to include 160 companies. Investments in Ukraine were booming.

2010

Invest in Ukraine

USUBC initiated the "Invest in Ukraine" campaign, aimed at promoting investment opportunities across various sectors including infrastructure and manufacturing.

2014

Largest business association

USUBC became the largest pro-Ukraine pro-defense business association.

2016-2017

Ukrainian Agrarian Congress

USUBC hosted Ukrainian agrarian congress in Washington D.C.

2018

Bilateral trade relations

USUBC fostered bilateral trade relations and facilitated networking opportunities for businesses from both countries.

2020

25th anniversary

USUBC celebrated its 25th anniversary, marking a quarter-century of fostering economic cooperation between the United States and Ukraine through advocacy, networking, and investment promotion efforts.

2022

Rebuild Ukraine initiative

In response to the escalating conflict in Ukraine, USUBC launched the "Rebuild Ukraine" initiative, providing financial assistance, resources, and strategic support to businesses affected by the Russian invasion.

2023

US-Ukraine Defence Industrial base forum

USUBC hosted the US-Ukraine Defence Industrial base forum in partnership with the NSC, US Department of Defence, State and Commerce.

2024

Supporting Ukraine's armed forces

USUBC shifted its focus towards supporting Ukraine's armed forces and spearheading reconstruction and rebuilding efforts in conflict-affected regions. Alongside these efforts, USUBC continued to identify and promote financial opportunities for Ukraine, fostering investment and facilitating economic growth in the country's emerging sectors.
